More new sewing patterns were released into the wild this
afternoon. And while not every option appeals to me, I have to say that
The Fall Vogue Pattern Collection includes quite a few intriguing designs along with the standard easy/basic ones.
I am sure it is not very surprising that my favorites are the vintage
reproductions. I actually have a few
thoughts on vintage reproductions I was planning to post in the next few days but I have not had a chance to put them into words, so I am going to save that for another day. Meanwhile, look at the pretty new patterns!
I am very pleased with the two designs that were
chosen this time around. I do not own
anything like either of these late 1940s patterns. Hooray for variety! And they are complicated enough that I would probably get frustrated trying to figure them out on my own.
Great job on the styling this time around, McCalls! Love the dresses, the hats, the shoes, and the model (although the yellow crepe dress is too big on her through the arms and back). Why do they always make the
vintage reproductions too big for their models?
But can we talk about those style lines and the arrow tacks
for a moment!! Gorgeous!! I am not 100% sure, but
those buttonholes look machine made. That would be my only gripe, and that is an easy fix.
It looks like someone at Vogue chose these patterns from
their catalog and presumably they have copies of these two patterns in their
collection as no mention is made of an individual donor on the pattern page. I hope whomever is responsible for these choices is for next season's picks as well!
Vogue 9126 is also wonderfully detailed. What a beautiful shawl collar - and look at those gathers! Love it!
I prefer the short sleeved version of this dress for some reason. Now I am going to be distracted looking for the perfect fabric for the design instead of working on current projects.
And I love the shoes!!
I also think
Vogue 9125 has some great possibilities (the
v-neck version, that is - the high neckline looks odd to me!).
There is
a classic pea-coat that is tempting (but do I really need another
jacket?). And I would have loved wearing
this dress as a child . . . oh, who am I kidding . . . I would love a grown up version to wear right now!
Overall, I am impressed with the recent offerings from Vogue - let's hope they keep giving us more intermediate and advance options to play with! Do you have any new favorites?
That kid dress is divine.
ReplyDeleteI too, love the Vogue 9127, although it was hard for me to get past the Yellow! (Not one of my favorite colours! Will be ordering this one, and trying it out for sure!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the two new Vintage designs from Vogue! The styling reminds me of vintage Harper's Bazaar magazines, and the style lines are positively gorgeous! Keep it up Vogue, I say!
ReplyDeleteBrigid
the Middle Sister and Singer
Vogue 9126 would make a great "mother of the bride" dress for we "women of a certain age" who are attending hipster weddings nowadays. Flattering, enough room for dancing, sleeves (!) but not boring. And great excuse to wear a fascinator!

ReplyDeleteI adore 9127. Vogue says it's from 1939, which makes sense to me when I look at the shoulder line with its darts and the length of the skirt. The upper and lower curved details with the arrow tacks remind me of other Vogue patterns I've seen--perhaps from one of their suits. I think I should go search vintage patteren wiki and see if I can find the original.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Thoroughly impressed with the new vintage patterns. Nice to see that they've picked up their game and are listening to the sewing community. I also rather like the simplicity of V1460.
ReplyDeleteLove all the detailing on those vintage patterns.
ReplyDeleteOooh I have that first pattern in all of it's original glory! I wonder how it differs from the 'new' vogue release. And I love that second one too, so pretty.
