Sparkles

So, this sweater took a whole lot longer than I thought it would.  The actual knitting (and a bit of crochet) was rather quick – I was just distracted by quite a few other projects along the way.

This was to be my New York project. . . ready to wear by the holidays.  (Green and sparkly seemed fitting for the season.)

But there were more exciting things to occupy my time than a pair of knitting needles in the big city.

Then it took some time to find the perfect buttons.

The devil is in the details.

After all of that, I am very pleased with the finished product.  So much, in fact, that I think I may have to make myself another version . . . perhaps in cotton . . .

  1. It looks so smart.

As for cotton, if you can find the buttons first, please consider making it in a shade of purple.

  2. It looks great! Just one question though: I always love pictures of these short vintage sweaters worn like this, with the top of the ribbing at, or just below the waistline. But how do you get them to stay there? I have one sweater in this style and it always creeps up. Do you know? I would wear styles like this more often if I could get them to behave...

    1. I actually have found the opposite. If the ribbing starts at my waist, it likes to stay put. This may have something to do with the fact that I have a hard time with negative ease, and most of my knit pieces are probably larger than they need to be. If, however, the ribbing it supposed to start above and extend through the hip area, they require a bit of fiddling on my body during the day.

Sorry I can't be more help!

  4. Beautiful outfit (those shoes!!!). Green and brown, each so earthy and timeless, are a match made in heaven - or, perhaps more aptly, in Mother Nature's lab. :)
