New Designs from Vogue

Vogue 9082

The new Spring Vogue Collection has been released, along with two new Vintage Vogue designs.

Vogue 9082

Vogue 9082 would fit right in with the recent Dolce & Gabbana collections.  The dress is rather bland, but I LOVE the jacket and the notched detail on the shell is a nice touch.

And I see quite a few wonderful little details on Vogue 9083 . . .welt pockets and pleats, princess seamed bodice with double darts, and a matching button-on collar.  This one reminds me of one of my favorite Butterick designs (I still prefer the Butterick, but this one has definite possibilities).

Does anyone remember the vintage accessories line?  I guess the patterns did not sell very well, because they disappeared from the catalog rather quickly.  Time to pull those old patterns out and make myself a hat, I think!

Vogue 9076 reminds me of a hybrid of a late 1930s pattern, one from the 1970s, topped off with a splash of Anna Sui (just imagine it in a fabulous silk or rayon print).

There are quite a few other designs with some amazing seaming details.  And while they are not my style, I am definitely pleased to see that Vogue is continuing to produce more complex designs . . . let's hope the trend lasts!  On the other hand, this means more patterns to add to the stash, and project ideas to add to the queue (that list is getting really, really long . . . )

What do you think of the new designs - will any of them be added to your wish list?

  1. Wouldn't it be great if they include patterns for the accessories featured in the photo too (if separate accessory patterns don't sell well enough)? I'd love that hat in the ochre / right figure illustration for v9082 - rather Audrey don't you think? And that white cap for v9083 too!

  2. I really like the direction they're going with that first pattern. It would work well for a variety of figures, and would flatter middle-aged women like me who are mixing vintage into our wardrobes (and, er, need to cover our upper arms). It's a nice outfit for a wedding.

    1. I love sleeved designs! My office is so cold during the summer months, and a cardigan just covers up so much of a dress . . . I definitely vote for more sleeves!

  3. I'm sorry to say I don't like one of them. I'm not a fan of pouches in the front of skirts. Hope this doesn't offend anyone:P :) I like it when the reproduce the couturier models. I must say though that I do like the belt in the second image. I wonder if they are including ideas how to make this.

  5. Vogue 9076 is on my wishlist...oh wait, I've already ordered it ;) There were a couple of designs I liked in this release, but not the vintage ones -- mostly because I don't really like sleeveless dresses, as jetsewing has noted!

  6. I really like Vogue 9083.This is the perfect day to night dress with the detachable collar and the jacket, especially in black would blend with lots of other outfits. Fabulous pattern.

  7. the vintage designs are pretty but not really a wow, I thought the entire collection was a total snooze. nothing that interested me. A lot of repeats in the shapes and details. and that dress from Isaac Mizrahi? totally a copy of so many Butterick or Simplicity patterns at a lower price.

    1. The Isaac Mizrahi was very disappointing . . . but I think his aesthetic is very simple, right? Would much rather have some Zac Posen designs with tons of interesting seamlines!

  9. I love Vogue 9076! I have a dress from the 70s with a very similar silhouette, but made of some sort of pleated heat-set polyester, and I was just thinking how nice it would be made up in some Liberty lawn. This one just went to the top of my list!

  10. I love the first two on the model. But I'm 5'4" and I think they are made for taller people, shame! Like the last one too but it's not really my style.

  11. Of the three I like the third one best. The other two wouldn't look that great on me. And I have a 70s pattern almost identical to the third one. It is a full length skirt though. I wish they would do more 70s patterns!

  12. I might have to pick up 9083. That would make an adorable summer dress!

  13. You have a good eye for the vintage stuff. I couldn't see it at first but now I can imagine the jacket from 9082 working with more modern looks....maybe even a high waist flared skirt or trousers. Of course I could never make anything in a beautiful light lilac color.. has to be navy blue or black for me. haha.

  14. Vogue 9083 - wow. With a slimmer fitted skirt that is a 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' worthy dress. These dresses have a nice dose of sex appeal which is very fresh after some of the more demure vintage offerings of the past. And I love that 70s does 40s dress, it's very flirty. At last we are getting somewhere.
