Hidden Treasure

While rifling through my yarn stash, I found this sweater.  Not quite complete, but almost . . .

The knitting is less than stellar, and the wool not of excellent quality.  Perhaps that is why I abandoned it so close to being finished?

I decided to wash the thing to see if it would even out some of the imperfections.  That did work, for the most part.

It was then I noticed other issues with the garment.  How did I manage to knit two separate cuff lengths?!  What an annoying mistake to make.  Oh well, things can't always go smoothly.  But I really must do something about that ribbing; that is the part of a sweater I actually see, and it will drive me crazy!

  1. Despite the cuff lengths, it is a very pretty sweater.

  2. I absolutely love it though. The colours together the shaping, the sleeves. It's definitely definitely worth go finishing. Have a lovely Christmas.

  3. Imperfections aside, this is such a beautiful jumper...I really hope you finish it soon so you can show it off to the world! You're such a talented knitter (and seamstress)...wish I could learn from you!

    1. I found the link you shared. Unfortunately I can't get it to print very clearly? I am inspired by yours though. It'll be worth making the changes to make you happier with it.

  5. It's a beautiful design, yes that cuff thing is a bit puzzling but it's nice for us more novice knitters to see that everyone makes mistakes. I am just finishing off my fist jumper and it's taken me years to get it done for various reasons, including two years of frozen shoulder... well when it's done it will be more than a jumper, it will be minor miracle. Hope you have a happy Christmas.

  8. Gorgeous. You should totally go back and fix the cuff issue. You would look great in this.

  9. Cut them both, pick up the stitches, knit the right length and bind off. that is the easiest solution.

    1. I mean, cut them to have most part of ribbing left on the sleeve. This way you will have really small amount of knitting to be done.

    2. Certainly worth it. As you know, as someone who hand-bastes darts, it really is worth the time to redo them. If the color hadn't worked out, or if the yarn didn't wash up well, that would be one thing. Considering the hours you've got in there already, it's worth the couple you're facing to redo a static portion.

  10. The design and colors look like something Prada would design and Vogue would feature in the fall 2015 issue. Prada would add more color with a print skirt and boots and bag, etc. and it would be a head turner. Fix the cuffs and it will be perfect. Love it.
