Have you heard the news? May is Sewing Indie Month! Mari of Seamster Patterns came up with the fabulous idea of celebrating Indie Patterns all month long, and here we are! There will be sew-alongs, prizes, and so much more!
You may think you know all of the pattern companies out there, but I feel quite confident that you will discover some new ones this month. Get ready to learn all about 21 fabulous design companies!

Four sew-along contests will be running simultaneously (plus one bonus prize winner randomly selected from everyone who participates) – I will be hosting the Dressed to the Nines category; Everyday Casual will be hosted by Jenny of Cashmerette; an Indie Love Affair will be hosted by Wanett of Sown Brooklyn; and Pattern Hacking will be hosted by Rhonda of Rhonda’s Creative Life.
To get your creative juices flowing, I will be back next
week with some thoughts on what makes an outfit fancy or formal, and how to
feel fabulous in whatever you choose to wear to that special occasion. In the meantime, make sure to check out all the indie companies involved:

Happy sewing!
Yay! I have a project planned I think will fit this category! :) There's definitely some new designers there I'll have to check out too :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
DeleteMy Sew Chic Flirty Dress pattern is a good candidate. I would love to get it made up and do some matching accessories which I am thinking would make it more formal.
ReplyDeleteAccessories are always fun - I usually wait till the last minute to think about them, but it sounds like you are way ahead of the game! And that dress is a fabulous choice!
DeleteOoh, I think I may have a project to fit!
ReplyDeleteWonderful - can't wait to see what you come up with!
DeleteThis is such a great initiative!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I'm actually watching a Craftsy class with Sew Chic. If I can get myself in gear, maybe I might be able to join in:) Great idea!
ReplyDeletePerfect pattern choice! I hope you decide to join in the fun, Joanna!
DeleteThis is such a great idea! I have the Dandelion dress pattern in my stash, a wedding in the summer to go to and now the incentive to get my butt in gear :)
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a Anna dress. I was going to make a Sew Chic dress but I was having trouble doing an SBA. I eventually got it right but thought I wouldn't have enough time to finish. So I switched to Anna but I discovered I had to do an SBA there too! Ack. I'm finally sewing it - but it's down to the wire!
ReplyDeleteAh, the last minute rush . . . I am very familiar with last minute sewing - sometimes the adrenaline is just what you need to create something fabulous. Can't wait to see what you have made!
DeleteLast minute rush, sounds familiar! Sewing went well, last minute picture taking not so much. Ended up in a soaking wet garden during a thunderstorm, modeling a maxi dress in stiletto heels! The things we do for deadlines ;)
