The last few weeks have done nothing to cure my lack of
motivation. Sure, there has been a bit
of sewing, and some knitting here and there, but I still feel incredibly lazy
and unproductive.
I realize that I should forgive myself for not being in a creative mood, but it always makes me feel guilty.
In fact, my pink velvet dress is finished, so at least I
can tell myself I have completed something.
The pattern does not call for sleeve lining, which seems
silly to me. If everything else is
lined, why not make the extra effort and have a completely lined garment? Unfortunately, I did not have quite enough pink bemberg on
hand. But I did have a bit of ivory that
works almost as well. I am just going to
pretend that the mismatched colors add character to the piece!
The detail in your dress is amazing. I aspire to having the patience to sew in a more 'couture' fashion, but it does not come naturally to me. Your dress looks wonderful and I can't wait to see it on. I especially like the matching shoes. Did you do them yourself too?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress and I am curious about the shoes as well. Details?
DeleteTell me you didn't upholster those shoes yourself! The dress looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou're work is just lovely! This dress is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress! I have also done sleeve linings in a different color arising out of necessity, but they look more like happy accidents. This reminds me that I could actually plan to have contrast lining as a design feature.
ReplyDeleteI understand the creativity slump; I'm in a small one myself. It's always interesting to look back and see what provided the fresh inspiration to get the creativity going again. There's always an element of surprise and an element of inevitability to the creative retooling.
Get outta town, how did you get your shoes to be so perfectly in tune with your dress? Thanks for sharing all the inner lining details to this wonderful dress. I can see you on Crafty with all your expert knowledge in this area:)
ReplyDeleteCraftsy & Laura Mae...such a novel notion.
DeleteThat is such an enchantingly lovely fabric and colour.
