Love this! I can totally see this in a nice light linen suiting for spring or a fine whale corduroy for fall.

I have a piece of black and mudcloth I would make the jacket out of and then coordinate it with the pleated skirt in a white poly chiffon or a lightweight linen.

ReplyDeleteI've been on the hunt for a suit like that in a light green, perhaps even minty, wool crepe, to wear to work in March/April.
Oh! I love vintage patterns, and have just the fabric: I have a couple of wools in my stash - 1 in dark blue with green check/plaid, and another in a brown check.

ReplyDeleteI'm a size 32! Serendipity. For me, this would look great in a funky linen something playful and unexpected like Melody Miller or Anna Maria Horner. Matching fabric covered buttons, of course!

ReplyDeleteOoh...love this! I have a linen/rayon blend in my stash that would be a perfect match for this pattern. It might also be cute with a solid for the jacket and a print for the skirt. Hmmm...a lot of possibilities for this little ensemble.

ReplyDeleteIt's just begging to be made up in linen for a summer evening event, like a summer wedding, isn't it? The most obvious choice would be pastel colours, but I don't wear pastels, so I would go for jewel tones. Emerald green. That's for the pencil skirt version. The pleated skirt version would be perfect for a matching but mismatching set... say, big black flowers on a cream linen for the skirt, plain cream linen for the jacket, and matching trimmings on both, like, say, if there was a splatter of red in the flowers, then red buttons and black trim on the jacket, or finishing the sleeve openings with the floral fabric.
ReplyDeleteI'm not commenting to win the pattern (it would be too small for me) but, I remember my mother making a pale blue and white pinstripe seersucker suit out of this very pattern! Brings back good memories, She would often make my sister and I outfits to match hers.
ReplyDeleteLovely pattern, so versitle. Either one would look good in a light blue and white striped searsucker with red trim and buttons. I would wear it to a luncheon with a red hat and shoes with white gloves.

I'm SO loving this pattern! I can see it in a cotton sateen in 1960s airline hostess colours. I would have to research different airline uniforms and pick the colour combos that I like best.

ReplyDeleteSince it is nearly summer, I'm thinking linen in light blue, yep, just like the picture. For winter, probably a wool, not too heavy though, since I live in Florida.
