This may not be my favorite dress pattern, but the fabric
matches back beautifully to my rose blouse, which I love wearing every chance I get! And it is always fun to look at old projects and learn from our "mistakes."
The fabric is a cotton jacquard stretch in a
mid-weight. I love the color, but the
fabric looks wrinkled no matter what I do.
And the silhouette of the back skirt did not turn out as full as
expected.
I originally sewed in some horsehair along the hem to see if that would help, but it looked terrible, so out it came.
However, it sure is nice to have an easy-to-wear jumper to throw on,
and especially one that works back to my favorite blouse!

This is really pretty, I keep thinking I need to make a dress like this to wear over blouses but don't ever get round to it. Love the colour!

This is obviously one of those strange americanisms. I don't know of a single adult woman in the UK who would wear what we call a pinafore dress - they are only for children (and I'm not even sure that a modern parent would dress their child in such a 70s garment).
ReplyDeleteYou obviously don't love it, and you make so many amazing garments, I would suggest a restyle - perhaps cut it down to a skirt - or ditch. Or keep it as a sleeveless summer dress.
