So to kick off the festivities, I thought a giveaway was in order!
Advance 9130 is a cute blouse pattern in a Size 14 (Bust
34). I can’t decide if I like the short
sleeve or long sleeve version best, although a previous owner clearly liked the
short cuffed sleeve look! The pattern is
complete except for the back neck facing, however, there is a lined piece of
paper in the shape of the facing piece.
Two of the pieces have a few small pieces of old tape, but I was able to get them apart without any
problems.
McCalls 4924 is a classic skirt pattern, perfect for Fall - I see it in a textured wool. The pattern is sized 8-14, and the pieces are
cut out for a size 10, although it would be easy to add a couple of inches with all of those seams. All pieces are
accounted for.
In honor of my very first blog post, I thought that an empire-style dress would be fun. McCalls 2147 is sized 10-14 and in factory
folds. The pattern is marked “Evening
Elegance” but I think it would look really cute in a kitschy print in a shorter
length.
Simplicity 7506 is a shift dress from 1967. I just love the side dart shaping. The pattern is
in its original factory folds and is a size 14 (Bust 36).
To enter, just leave a comment below saying which pattern/s
you would like to adopt. I will pick the winners on Saturday.
And I would like to say a huge thank you for joining me on
this blogging journey. It has been an amazing year, and I cannot wait for the next! And, of course, happy sewing!
I would love Simplicity 7506! What a cute dress. Those side darts look like they'd be more interesting than your basic bust-waist-dart setup.
ReplyDeleteYou've been blogging for a year... me too!!! I've found its been a really interesting excercise, and I like the fact that I now have an 'archive' of what I've been doing for the past 12 months! And I never expected anyone to read it so its amazing to me that they do :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, enough of that! I would love to adopt Advance 9130, it would be a fab addition to my vintage pattern stash :)

ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog, Laura Mae. Congrats on your 1 year blogiversary! I would like to make the Advance 9130 blouse. I have never tried a pattern from Advance, and this blouse is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog on Saturday as I Googled sewing blogs. (Getting the itch to get back to sewing) I would love to adopt that McCalls skirt pattern. It makes me a little sad to think about all those patterns I disposed of twenty years ago.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Laura Mae! You are one of my inspirations in considering starting my own blog. I would love to adopt McCalls 4924 (skirt pattern). All the best and thank you.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog. Happy bloganniversary I would be fun to make the empire-style dress. ( McCalls 2147)
ReplyDeleteOh, lovely! Congrats on one year of blogging. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd be very interested in the Advance blouse pattern. Thanks for the chance to be in to win it!
Happy anniversary! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy reading your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI would love the advance 9130 blouse and the simplicity 7506 shift would also come in handy.
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary ! I really enjoy your blog and am amazed you've only been doing it one year. I love Mccalls 2147. I was thinking it would make a great mastectomy nighty. Is that too much information ? It's just those gathers look as if they might be good at concealment. But it's also a very cute dress and very contemporary. Sundress and nighty in one. Result !! I love that you bring patterns to my attention. Thanks so much for last years posts and here's to many more !
ReplyDeleteHappiest congrats on your first blogaversary! That's such a fantastic milestone! I've been following you for much of that time and truly enjoy all of your informative, inspiring, lovely posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for holding this great giveaway - I'd opt for Advance 9130, please.
Wishing many more amazing years of blogging ahead!
♥ Jessica

ReplyDeleteCongrats! You always have such lovely creations! I'd love to win Advance 9130. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. I love the Evening Elegance one but I think I would make it in a short version. This blog is such an inspiration. Congratulations on one year!
ReplyDeleteI would adore that little shift pattern or the blouse. Congrats on a year of blogging! You've been a huge inspiration to me to start sewing more of my own clothes and start a little blog of my own.
ReplyDeleteAdvance 9130, please!
ReplyDeleteLaura Mae,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blogging triumph! This past year has flown. Having found you early on, you've been both an inspiration and a muse.
Could you have imagined at the start, that your every sewing hour would yield some personalized e-bickering?
To at least two nameless others, you are an Internet sewing nemesis. To me, you are the most disciplined of free spirits.
With anticipation of what comes next from your studio,
Testosterone
Hi Laura Mae!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say Happy Anniversary and Congratulations!!! You are such an incredible inspiration.
(Don't enter me in the giveaway, I have a few too many patterns, if that is possible!)
Thanks and keep up the great work!
Katrina B
Thank you, Katrina! And, yes, it is entirely possible to have too many patterns - I have some personal experience with the issue myself!
DeleteHappy Blog Birthday!!!

I can think of several interesting experiments for the Advance blouse. Make the long sleeved blouse in lace like Prada did, a plaid blouse from the long sleeve style with button tab changed to a shirt and a button on ruffle like Gaultier showed this fall, contrast collar, button tab, turned up cuff and bow for the short version, t-shirt fabric and patterned pocket for a sporty look (any color and cotton print for pocket), or blue oxford blouse with denim pocket. This pattern could look as American as Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger in a patriotic print with denim ruffles trimmed in red serged thread. I am inspired.

Happy blogiversary! Simplicity 7506 would rock my world :) Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!! I look forward to seeing what you continue to blog because I love what you make! It's so unique! I would choose the Advance 9130 and the simplicity 7506
ReplyDeleteHappy one-year blogiversary. I really enjoy reading your blog, you are a talented seamstress and you inspire me in my sewing endeavors. All the patterns are great so it is a difficult choice - but, it comes down to two: the Advance blouse pattern or the Simplicity shift. Of course, the evening elegance has great possibilities also . . . Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHappy blog birthday! I'd love Advance 9130 if I am picked please, it looks really cute.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog Birthday! I thought you'd been blogging much longer. :)
ReplyDeleteYou've sewn more in a year than I have in the past five.
9130 has my name all over it. (um, in my daughters size) I have some girl scout fabric folded and waiting to be a blouse. The number has been jotted regardless. I think I have that skirt pattern. I like it all over again. (must go digging)

Congrats with the anniversary! I just want to say that I love your creations, and I'm actually a bit surprised to discover that this blog is only one year old. Do you sew a new dress every week or so (for so it seems), or are the dresses shown a mix of old creations and new adventures?
ReplyDeleteI'm not entering the giveaway, so don't pick me!
Hilde
Happy blog birthday/anniversary!! I've been reading your blog since earlier this year and had no idea you'd only been writing it for a year. For the giveaway, I'd love to adopt either Advance 9130 or Simplicity 7506.
