What shall I wear today?

Have you ever had one of those days when getting dressed and going to work seems like way too much of an effort?

While it might be easier to just throw on whatever is close at hand, it does absolutely nothing to improve my mood.

Perhaps it should not be the case, but my frame of mind can be dramatically altered by putting on the right (or wrong) dress.

And although I really did not want to leave my apartment, I put on one of my favorites frocks and braved the outside world.

The extra effort was rewarded.  Someone told me that I reminded them of Dita Von Teese.  We both share a love of vintage style and have pasty skin, but beyond that, I don’t see much of a resemblance, although I am very flattered by the comparison!

Being the proud mom of a cute puppy dog, my vampirish pallor has somewhat diminished over the past five years with all of those daily walks.

Goodness, that reminds me, I missed my little guy’s birthday this year!  Happy birthday, Valentino! Although, to be fair, everyday is a party for this spoiled pup.

So we are left with vintage fashion . . . how much fun would it be to rifle through Dita's closet!?

  1. I know exactly what you mean about how an outfit can alter your mood! Yay for favourite dresses for days when a mood-lifter is needed, it can make such a difference. :-)

  2. You look wonderful!!! I definitively love lilac color despite I know that a lot of people hate it, don't know why....

You are so lucky to have gold hands like that... I plan to buy a sewing machine soon, would love to be able some of vintage fabrics that I own.

  3. Oh my goodness, have I ever had days like that! One would never know yours started off on a rocky note though, as you look thoroughly beautiful (love your hair hear) and as though you were poised to take on the world.

  4. I understand completely about not wanting to go anywhere but dressing in your best and feeling good. I always run into not "feeling" pretty at work. I work with 6 year olds so it is very hard to wear my favorite clothes. Plus, it is inventiable I always get SOMETHING on me every day of work. Be it from a student, the floor, or my own clumsiness. I am trying to make more "school" clothes but always make clothes I just can't wear.

  5. I've been feeling like that this week - I get up and I am not inspired by any of my clothes. I think its a sign of that I'm just not feeling my best at the moment...

And as for Dita's closet - oh my I would LOVE to have a look in her wardrobe!
